  12. ASCR is a resident program, which provides displaying of Russian
  13. letters on your  PC  monitor.  It  works  in  any  videomode  on
  14. EGA(VGA) and in graphics modes on CGA.
  15.  
  16. ASCR does NOT provide entering Russian characters from keyboard.
  17. Any keyboard driver (such as KEYUSSR, RUSLAT and so on)  may  be
  18. used with ASCR.
  19.  
  20. ASCR   program   accepts   no  parameters.  If  you  adapter  is
  21. EGA-compatible or current videomode is graphics  mode  you  will
  22. get a message in Russian from ASCR just after it's starting.

  24. ASCR must be started only once. It is recommended to place it to
  25. AUTOEXEC.BAT  file,  if you are permanently working with Russian
  26. letters.

  52. 1,2 or 3 Russian fonts became resident after program start.  The
  53. number of fonts depends on display adapter in that way:
  54.  
  55. 1-font case: EGA-compatible card not found.
  56. 2-font case: EGA-compatible card found  and  VGA-compatible  not
  57.              found and current font height is not 16 scanlines.
  58. 3-font case: VGA-compatible card found or current font height is
  59.              16 scanlines.

  61. As  a  result,  driver  may have those parameters, depending the
  62. case which take place:

  71. The conclusion is that if your adapter  uses  font  of  16-lines
  72. height  and  is  not  VGA-compatible,  start  ASCR  when current
  73. display font is of 16 scanlines.
